My Story.

Hi, I’m Sensei Abigail, and I am an apprentice instructor at Shinpo Martial Arts. I am a dedicated martial artist with a passion for the arts of which I have been practicing for over 8 years now. From the very beginning, I knew that I wanted to become an instructor and share my knowledge with others, and I work hard towards that goal, refining my skills, and honing my teaching abilities. I am currently a junior Black Belt in Ju Jitsu, currently working hard towards my senior Black Belt. I started Martial Arts at around the age of 8 years old, as I lacked in confidence, until finding a passion for Ju Jitsu. From starting my Martial Arts journey, I have grown in confidence, discipline and as a person.
During my time as a Ju Jitsu practitioner, I found a love for Kickboxing, partially because it adds another dimension to my Martial Arts expertise, as well as because it is slightly more fitness-based than traditional Ju Jitsu. Kickboxing, to me, has a different angle of view towards Martial Arts than Ju Jitsu, and I see it as another avenue to take towards getting better and expanding my Martial Arts knowledge. I also see it as a way to apply my teaching and variety of abilities to a more sports-based dynamic that is more fast-paced and high-pressure in some aspects in comparison to Ju Jitsu.
In addition to my dedication to Martial Arts, I am also pursuing my dreams through education and practical experience. I'm currently enrolled in a Level 3 Extended Diploma course at Preston College, focused on sports and sports coaching, of which is providing me with a well-rounded understanding of coaching and instruction, as well as other important aspects of becoming a success in a variety of sporting areas and coaching. Furthermore, I'm undertaking an apprenticeship in Martial Arts teaching at Shinpo Martial Arts in order to gain hands-on experience and learn from seasoned instructors. This helps to combine my theoretical knowledge with real-world training and it is truly helping me build the foundation I need to become a full-time Martial Arts instructor. I am really excited for the journey ahead.
